Food hygiene according to IPM standard

IPM (Integrated Pest Management) The Integrated Pest Management concept (abbreviated to IPM concept) is a preventive system that, just like the
HACCP concept to ensure the safety of food and consumers. Unlike the HACCP concept,
where pest control is only a small part of the overall concept, the IPM standard is specifically designed to
preventive pest control.
The IPM concept is based on a combination of recognised control mechanisms and the application of current knowledge
about the life cycles and the spread of pests in relation to their environment.
The information obtained in this way is used to prevent pest infestations and/or any resulting damage
economic aspects.
The aim is to protect people and the environment as far as possible. IPM can be applied in all areas of daily life.
This standard is often used in agricultural businesses, but also in the food industry.
All recognised pest control methods are used.

The IPM concept is structured according to the following four phases:

- Phase 1: Infestation detection
Determination of a damage threshold statistic, which shows at what point a pest control measure is initiated
needs to be. Single pests do not necessarily have to be controlled immediately. The determination from which
The number of pests that become an economic problem is important in order to determine the correct control measures later.

- 2nd phase: Determination of the pests and monitoring
Not all organisms or weeds need to be controlled. Many organisms are harmless, some even useful.
The IPM is applied to pests. They should be observed and their development and way of life should be determined exactly,
to be able to fight them effectively if necessary. The improper and unnecessary use of poisons should be prevented.

- Phase 3: Prevention
Individual work processes and the use of the premises are improved in such a way that pest infestation is avoided.

- 4th phase: Control
The number of pests is checked by regular inspections. When the specified damage thresholds are reached
control measures are taken. Here, the protection of people and the environment is in the foreground.
