Food hygiene according to IPM standard |
IPM (Integrated Pest Management)
The Integrated Pest Management concept (abbreviated to IPM concept) is a preventive system that, just like the HACCP concept to ensure the safety of food and consumers. Unlike the HACCP concept, where pest control is only a small part of the overall concept, the IPM standard is specifically designed to preventive pest control. The IPM concept is based on a combination of recognised control mechanisms and the application of current knowledge about the life cycles and the spread of pests in relation to their environment. The information obtained in this way is used to prevent pest infestations and/or any resulting damage economic aspects. The aim is to protect people and the environment as far as possible. IPM can be applied in all areas of daily life. This standard is often used in agricultural businesses, but also in the food industry. All recognised pest control methods are used.
The IPM concept is structured according to the following four phases:
- Phase 1: Infestation detection
- 2nd phase: Determination of the pests and monitoring
- Phase 3: Prevention
- 4th phase: Control
